Mad, brave or just plain stupid...
Andrew Galbraith is Standing Start lead trainer/ physiotherapist. He is competing at Ironman Wales on Sunday September 11th 2011 to raise funds for the charity Standing Start. The money raised will help purchase much needed equipment and also support people with a SCI through their rehabilitation process.
The Ironman is a rather long day compromising of a 2.3 mile sea swim, 112 mile bike ride around the Pembrokeshire National Park, then running a full marathon. The Ironman is being held in South Wales and the route has been described as challenging! ‘the only thing that is flat is the sea and there is no guarantee of that!’ gives some indication of what lies ahead.
Andrew says “Completing the Ironman will be physically and psychologically challenging, but seeing the challenges that people with a SCI face on a daily basis is humbling and a powerful motivator. I am inspired by the Clients at Standing Start to complete this challenge. Please help us to change more lives through exercise at Standing Start”.

He also felt that the new GP Commissioning arrangements may make our services more accessible to all
